Environmental Health / Hazardous Safety Technician

USI/ Asteelflash is activity looking for a talented Environmental Health / Hazardous & Safety Technician to join our leadership team here in Milpitas, CA. 

The ideal candidate will provide support to Our Company, Asteelflash, to ensure the safety of our employees, customers, and the general public. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduit environmental audits and assessments to evaluate a business’s compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and develop strategies for correction.
  • Prepare, submit, and update regulatory reports, such as Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBPs) in California Environmental; Reporting System (CERS).
  • Conduct site assessments for HMBP.
  • Advise on proper waste management practices, including hazardous and universal waste disposal and recycling program. Collect manifest reports and enter in the system
  • Conduct waste assessments and prepare reports.
  • Full computer skill (Microsoft Office) Excel, English speaking & writing.
  • Inventory of hazardous materials store in reportable quantities at a facility
  • Emergency Response Plans and procedures in the event of à release or threatened release of a hazardous material
  • Training for all new employees and annual refresher training, for all employees, in safety procedures in the event of a release or threatened release of a hazardous material
  • Annotated site map meeting the requirements of CA Health and Safety Code, Ch. 6.95, Section 25505(a)(2)
  • Experience with Environmental Standards, including the following: ISO 14001, ISO 9001, AS / EN 9100, IATF 16949, and ISO 13485
  • This position will be responsible for providing leadership and supporting the development and implementation of environmental, health and safety compliance programs for the plants.
  • Ensure plant employees are properly trained on all company EHS procedures and policies.
  • Supervisor recordkeeping required for EHS regulatory compliance
  • MUST work 20 hours per week
  • Familiar with EPA and OSHA regulations
  • Familiarity with DART (Days Away, Restricted or Transferred) and reporting
  • Familiarity with net zero emission and corresponding requirements
  • Knowledge of California environmental and Cal/OSHA regulations strongly preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AS degree level of knowledge that would be obtained from a AS degree
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience as Environmental Technician
  • Fluent as Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA)
  • Willingness to work a different assignment if it is necessary

This position will be 100% onsite. The expected based salary range for this position, if filled in California, is $35-$65/ hour, dependent on specific skills and work experience.
